We sat down with our very talented airbrush artist, Dan Jones, to learn more about his background, inspirations and what he's doing when he's not making our boards look pretty.
Tell us about your background from where you grew up to what got you into surfing?
I grew up in/near Emerald Isle North Carolina and what got me into surfing as a kid was my dad and then late high school is when I really started to surf all the time.
Which surfers, artists, people inspire you?
Jean-Michael is probably my favorite artist, Josef Albert, Richard prince are very close seconds. I don’t really have a favorite surfer I like a lot of people styles of surfing but there’s not one in particular that I would call my favorite.
What is your favorite airbrush spray?
My favorite airbrush to spray is currently doing flame work but usually patterns, fades and checkers.
What are you most excited for in the future?
I’m exited to see how my artwork progresses along with my surfing here in jersey and the relationships that will get built with the guys
How do you spend your free time outside of surfing and building surfboards?
I spend most of my free time either skating, surfing, thrifting, or painting on stuff I probably shouldn’t (laughs)
